Swedish newspaper group chooses SAXoTECH
Herenco AB purchases SAXoPRESS, Publicus and Tansa for 10 sites
AALBORG, Denmark (June 4, 2001)
SAXoTECH, a leading supplier of content management and online production systems for media companies in Scandinavia and North America, announces that the Swedish newspaper group Herenco AB has purchased the complete SAXoPRESS Content Management System for the production needs of the 10 newspapers in its Hallpressen AB division.
“SAXoTECH was the natural choice of partner after we had evaluated over 10 national and international Content Management Systems,” says Fredrik Hamrin, Director of Herenco AB. “SAXoTECH was one of the very few suppliers which could deliver a system which can handle all of the editorial flow (from a-z) of text, images, pages, archiving of these objects, integration with our advertising system and a good planning and resource control system. Planning- and resource control is the very heart of the system, through which the individual users as well as the editors get a very effective tool to aid them perform their work.”
The contract includes all of the base SAXoPRESS system, as well as:
-- Newsroom Planning Module: An advanced, integrated editorial planning and resource control application
-- QuarkCopyDesk SE™ integration: Use of the WYSIWYG text editor for true write-to-fit editing
-- Tansa Text Proofing System: Sophisticated, server-based spelling, style and hyphenation proofreading system
-- SAXoBRS Archive System: Integrated archiving solution for text, images and pages
It will be SAXoTECH’s first installation in Sweden using the QuarkCopyDesk SE™ integration.
In addition, for all of its Internet production needs, the group has purchased the Publicus Online Publishing System and several Add-On Modules. Herenco has decided to add the Agenda Module (online calendar of events), the Query Module (online polling), the Wire Services Module (automatic wire and weather information publishing), the Advertising Module (banner ad serving), the Multi-Channel Module (wireless, handheld and email publishing) and the Chat Module (online chat) to their base Publicus system.
Herenco’s Hallpressen AB newspapers expect to use the SAXoPRESS and Publicus systems to help them more tightly integrate the production of their print and online publications. With Publicus, the Hallpressen newspapers also expect to be able to offer a whole host of new Internet services to their online readers and advertisers. The Publicus Add-On Modules will be tightly integrated with the SAXoPRESS production system to enable a seamless, cross-media workflow.
The Herenco system will be staged on a single server cluster, for a total of 227 editorial users across the 10 newspapers. The SAXoPRESS clients will be installed on Mac OS™ desktop computers.
With SAXoPRESS, even though all of the publications will be working from the same set of servers and one database system, each will be able to define their own custom workflow.
