In an effort to bring more attention to the large number of great high technology companies with roots in the Nordic countries, SAXoTECH -- the leading provider of editorial systems in Scandinavia -- gave away a free roundtrip vacation for two people to Copenhagen, Denmark, at NEXPO, the Newspaper Association of America's (NAA) annual technical exposition and conference, in Orlando, Fla., June 22-25.
The drawing was held on the last day of the conference. The winning entry was pulled from a box of nearly 1,000 entrants by Kevin McCourt, VP of advertising and exhibition sales for the NAA.
The lucky winner was: Lucas Grindley, online producer at the Herald-Tribune in Sarasota, Fla.
Grindley will be taking one of his co-workers (Jackie Poucher, also an online producer at the Herald-Tribune) with him to Scandinavia.
"My coworker Jackie and I heard there was a chance to win a trip to Denmark at NEXPO, so while we were at the show we both applied," said Grindley. "Before we put in our tickets, we made a pact that if either of us won, we would bring the other person. Turns out, I won. So, Jackie and I are looking forward to a nice vacation in Copenhagen."
Grindley was awarded one gift certificate, which he will redeem for two roundtrip coach-class airplane tickets from the United States to Copenhagen, Denmark, and four nights in a business-class hotel in downtown Copenhagen (total retail value not to exceed: $4,000).
"We had a tremendous response to this promotion," said Robert A. Laszlo, VP of Customer Fulfillment at SAXoTECH. "Many of us know Lucas and Jackie, and we were all very surprised when Kevin [McCourt] pulled Lucas' name from the box. I am sure they will enjoy their trip to Denmark."
