Bremerton, Wash., signs contract with SAXoTECH
Scripps-Howard paper will install editorial system integrated with Adobe InDesign CS(tm)
SAXoTECH, a recognized leader in providing content management and online production systems for media companies, is pleased to announce that The Sun (Bremerton, Wash.) has chosen the SAXoPRESS Publishing System as its editorial content and production solution.
The Sun, an E.W. Scripps Co., paper, will install SAXoPRESS R6, integrated with the Adobe InDesign CS™ page layout application.
"A committee broadly representative of our newsroom examined seven different front-end systems and unanimously selected SAXoTECH's as the best because of its features, interface and ease of use," said Jeff Brody, managing editor of The Sun. "We look forward to replacing a 10-year-old system with one that will allow us to automate many repetitive tasks and focus on editing and presentation of our content."
In addition the Base SAXoPRESS system, The Sun purchased:
- Planning Module: Newsroom planning and budgeting tools, as well as a repository for group calendars, contacts, and story ideas
- Automatic Image Processing: An application for automatically handling the majority of final pre-press imaging tasks, including color correction and image conversion
“We are excited to be working with the people in Bremerton, as well as E.W. Scripps Co.,” said Mark Prokosch, President of SAXoTECH, Inc. “This is an important milestone for us, because it is our first with Scripps, as well as the first sale of our Adobe InDesign integration.”
The 42-seat SAXoPRESS system replaces an aging editorial system from P.Ink. The Sun’s SAXoPRESS system will be integrated with Managing Editor’s Ad Layout System. The Sun will run SAXoPRESS R6 on Mac OS X.
The system implementation will begin in February and is expected be completed in May 2004.
