Geo. J. Foster & Co., Inc signs contract with SAXoTECH
Family owned publishing group will install SAXoPress 6 across all of its publications

TAMPA- SAXoTECH, a recognized leader in providing content management and online production systems for media companies, is pleased to announce that Geo. J. Foster & Co., Inc (Dover, NH) has chosen the SAXoPRESS Publishing System as its editorial content and production solution for all 5 of its publications.

Family owned since 1873, the Foster group of publications includes: Foster’s Daily Democrat, The Citizen and Sunday Citizen, Sanford News, Best Read Guide and the Rochester Times.

Robert H. Foster, Publisher of Foster’s Daily Democrat noted that after a lengthy investigation, they decided on SAXoPRESS because of its flexibility, and close integration with the Publicus Online Publishing System, which they are in the process of installing.

In addition to the Base SAXoPRESS system, Foster’s purchased:

Planning Module: Newsroom planning and budgeting tools, as well as a repository for group calendars, contacts, and story ideas

Automatic Image Processing: An application for automatically handling the majority of final pre-press imaging tasks, including color correction and image conversion

Tansa Text Proofing System: A client/server text proofing solution that will locate errors in spelling, grammar, style and hyphenation

SAXoBRS Archive: The BRS archive will allow Foster’s to archive all of their published text, images and pages in one central, indexed repository

“We are thrilled to expand our relationship from Web to print and to play a part in the day to day operations of an organization with such a rich history and presence in the publishing world,” said Mark Prokosch, President of SAXoTECH, Inc. “We appreciate that Foster’s recognizes the value and benefits of our integrated solutions.”

The 79-seat SAXoPRESS system replaces an aging OPENPAGES editorial system. Implementation is scheduled to begin in July.

Foster's Daily Democrat, owned and operated by the Foster family since the newspaper's inception on June 18, 1873, is unique in today's publishing world; ownership is by direct generations of the Foster family, no other daily newspaper in the United States has the family name in the front-page banner and few, if any, small daily newspapers make the commitment to local news as does Foster's. With a circulation of 30,000 copies on Sunday, Foster's Daily Democrat is the local newspaper of Dover, N.H. The Foster's family also owns the Citizen (circulation of 9,000 daily), which is published in Laconia, N.H.
