First five Gannett sites go live with Publicus, 94 to go
TAMPA, FL.- SAXoTECH, a recognized leader in providing online content management and editorial systems for media companies, is pleased to announce that the first five of 99 planned Publicus installations at Gannett Co., Inc , (NYSE: GCI) have gone live.
“Five sites in five months…on time or ahead of schedule,” said Mark Prokosch, President, SAXoTECH, Inc. “It’s a testament to SAXoTECH’s continued efforts to exceed the expectations of our customers. Not only with our technology, but also through our integration and customer service.”The Director of Online Content at Gannett, Peter Lundquist, was pleased with the manner in which SAXoTECH worked with Gannett’s online staff.. “Time to market played a key role in our decision process. There was some speculation during the planning phase that our goal of bringing five sites live in such a short period of time was too aggressive. It was a strong team effort, which included SAXoTECH's staff, to launch on time, with one of the five even launching ahead of schedule.”
Earlier this year, Gannett joined the growing list of media companies that have chosen Publicus to automate and improve their New Media publishing efforts. “We investigated CMS solutions for three years. In the end there was one company that best fit our needs. It was SAXoTECH, “ said Lundquist. “We saw that Publicus was going to help us be more productive, and we have confirmed those efficiencies since launching our first five sites. As we take advantage of Publicus’ numerous modules, we expect even greater savings and the potential for increased revenue.”
Continued productivity improvements are highly anticipated through the implementation of Publicus across Gannett’s 99 dailies. “We’re going to be able to take new digital products to market faster with Publicus, without having to increase resources, “ said Lundquist. “By unifying our papers on a single solution we will be able to copy one market’s great idea and make it work for other markets in a matter of hours or days rather than weeks or months.”
The SAXoTECH contract with Gannett includes training, consulting services, support and software maintenance. Gannett’s Web sites will be hosted and managed by Gannett Media Technologies International (GMTI), a subsidiary of Gannett Co., Inc., at GMTI’s datacenter.
Gannett’s first 5 sites include: www.clarionledger.com (Jackson, MS), www.pal-item.com ( Richmond, IN), www.rrstar.com (Rockford, IL), www.desmoinesregister.com (Des Moines, IA) and www.idahostatesman.com (Boise, ID).
