Roger Ebert site goes live with SAXOTECH Online™
New web tools keeps popular movie portal on the cutting edge of internet-delivered contentThe Sun-Times, who is responsible for syndicating the work of prominent movie-review mogul Roger Ebert; needed a system to not only publish Ebert's current content, but also years of his past reviews and other valuable writings.
“SAXOTECH Online has enabled us to offer more to the consumer with the same data,” said John Cary, Vice President of New Media at the Chicago Sun-Times. “It has enabled us to do more with the Ebert database than we thought was possible.
The new Roger Ebert site includes full-length movie reviews, Roger Ebert's Little Movie Glossary, new release listings, box office data, as well as allowing Ebert's patrons to share their picks and pans in theaters. The previous Ebert site has received significant page view traffic in the past and is expected to rise with the release of the SAXOTECH Online driven version.
The Sun-Times considered numerous factors when exploring automated web systems. Beyond SAXOTECH Online's system platform, that fits the needs of the newspaper interactive vertical, they were also looking for a system that would fit the long-term needs of their organization.
“It has been a real pleasure to do business with SAXOTECH,” said Cary. “We are very happy with the service, commitment and ability of the
SAXOTECH staff who worked on the Roger Ebert project. They went well above and beyond for this.”
“Publicus will allow Roger Ebert to expand his site's content and functionality, without requiring him, or the Chicago Sun-Times, to expand their New Media technical staff,” said Mark Prokosch, President of SAXoTECH, Inc. “We are particularly pleased to be working with such a high-profile site. We are thrilled that we'll be able to demonstrate our system's abilities with such a respected and well-known content provider.
