Our Changing World: Veteran Reporter Comments on SAXOTECH Go-live

Veteran reporter Judith McGinnis , writing for E.W. Scripps' Times Record News in Wichita Falls, Tex., today reflected on her recent transition to Saxotech's channel agnostic CMS platform. The Times Record News is the latest Scripps site to go live on our platform, providing a single point of content creation and management for print and web publishing.

Here's an outtake. Or read her column in its entirety here .

Semantic Content Presentation Drives Traffic at The Columbian
The Columbian in Vancouver, Wash. recently went live with the SAXOTECH Mediaware Center, extending the content planning, production and publishing process to all hands in their newsroom. Now their staff is beginning to see some quantifiable results of their implementation, specifically around Web products and their potential to better monetize content.
White Paper Published: Channel-Agnostic CMS Options for Media
Media companies are faced with tough decisions on how to respond to drastically changing business models. As publishing paradigms shift and content – once a singular and unique product of media companies – flows freely over many different types of channels, news and information publishers must carefully consider their approach to Enterprise Content Management.

Up until now media companies have been forced to choose between two options: build a system (typically using open source code) or purchase a commercial, purpose-built system. Now a third alternative is emerging: a flexible purpose-built system that enables the development of highly customizable applications and the sharing of code.

SAXOTECH has produced a white paper that discusses the pros and cons of the use of either open source technology or a purpose-built system by media companies and explore some of the key benefits of a “best of both worlds” flexible purpose-built system.
Change in Motion; New Techniques, Procedures and Vocabularies at The Daily Herald

Jim Slusher, assistant managing editor at Paddock’s Daily Herald in Chicaogoland, reflects on changes in newsroom technology over the past several decades in his column today.

'Rewizardry' just a natural part of paper's evolution

For our part, it’s true that Paddock’s implementation of our Mediaware Center to manage digital and print production introduces new techniques, procedures and yes, even new vocabularies. Never fear. We provide a GUI (that’s Graphical User Interface) and a glossary in multiple languages.
