SAXOTECH Announces Move to Advanced Hosted Service with Innovative Cloud Computing

Groundwork complete for Hosted Editorial Software as a Service Model

Tampa, Fla. – February 27, 2009 – SAXOTECH announced today its move to an advanced hosted environment with cloud computing. This innovative, highly scalable new hosting environment will enable media companies to adapt to advances and changes in the digital environment and be better equipped to handle large surges of traffic. Visit SAXOTECH at mediaXchange, booth number 1213. Demos scheduled daily beginning at 10 a.m.

SAXOTECH’s advanced hosted service is a complete managed platform for 24/7 operation of online business applications and infrastructure. Media companies will realize faster deployment times, better asset utilization, efficient systems optimization and the ability to refocus resources, keeping costs down to stay competitive.

The previous hosted environment was more expensive to produce, time consuming to deploy and difficult to upgrade. Now, instead of buying costly servers, a resource pool of processing, storage and networking will allow capacity to be deployed on demand.

SAXOTECH’s hosted environment is highly secure and will provide complete redundancy to eliminate downtime due to hardware failure. Additional capacity is always available and automated resource balancing provides continuous monitoring to ensure that all applications are always running at peak performance.

“Technologies that simplify and improve the speed of our publishing are crucial to meeting the needs of our audience,” said Jeff Moriarty, vice president for new media, The New York Times Regional Media Group. “We believe that this move to a cloud computing environment will allow us to continue to efficiently and effectively expand the services we provide our readers and advertisers.”

SAXOTECH’s hosted service is located in Savvis’ Atlanta data center featuring world-class facilities for power management, heating/ventilation/air conditioning, fire suppression, seismic engineering, physical security, and integration with Savvis’ Tier 1 MPLS network and hosting footprint of 29 data centers globally.

SAXOTECH customers will have unprecedented control and flexibility. Additional key features and benefits of SAXOTECH’s advanced hosted service include:

 Monitoring – Operated and monitored 24/7 by a highly trained staff of network specialists

 Flexibility – Ability to allocate sufficient bandwidth when needed to accommodate even the most demanding traffic needs

 Performance – Offers complete redundancy to eliminate downtime due to hardware failure

 Security – Highly secure, robust physical measures to protect IT infrastructure, including annual Type II SAS 70 examination

 Availability – State-of-the-art technology without many of the traditional start-up costs associated with advanced IT infrastructures

 Support – Same level of personal support from SAXOTECH’s experienced Professional Services group

“SAXOTECH’s new hosted environment provides rapid deployment with high performance,” said Paul Dalpiaz, chief information officer, Crain Communications, Inc. “We went live on the new hosting platform with AutoWeek days before the Detroit Auto Show and the transition was successful. SAXOTECH continues to understand our need for flexibility during critical times of the year. With a dedicated resource pool of processing, memory and storage, we know we’ll have the bandwidth to handle the huge surges in traffic.”

Hosted Editorial / Software as a Service

With SAXOTECH’s advanced hosted environment, the groundwork is complete for the move to a Hosted Editorial / Software as a Service (SaaS) model. Editorial customers will realize significant efficiencies in the production of editorial products throughout all of their operations.

 Faster Deployment – Customers using SAXOTECH’s standards-driven installation can be running in weeks, not months

 Saas – Get the proven SAXOTECH functionality without a large up-front investment in hardware. Users can access the SAXOTECH Editorial system from a variety of operating system platforms and work on the familiar Windows and Adobe environments

 Monitoring and Support – SAXOTECH manages the environment and watches constantly to stay in front of preventable performance issues, minimizing user frustration and downtime

The new hosted environment combined with SAXOTECH’s latest move to provide customers with a hosted editorial solution will enable customers to have one complete digital publishing system provided as a hosted service. This flexible and cost effective solution enables media companies to efficiently produce and share news and information in a streamlined and collaborative production environment.

General availability of hosted editorial is Q3 2009.
