Upgraded Platform Streamlines Publishing Process and Online Integration
TAMPA, Fla. – June 22, 2005 – George J. Foster Company, a leading publisher of daily and weekly newspapers in New Hampshire and southern Maine, has successfully gone live with SAXOTECH Editorial™. The new publishing solution is an upgrade to their existing investment in SAXOTECH technology and will streamline interactions between reporters, photographers and editors and allow Fosters to bring new efficiencies to the publishing process.

Foster’s took two weeklies, two dailies and one combined Sunday newspaper live within a seven-day period.
“We did not miss a beat,” commented Robert H. Foster, publisher. “It was a very smooth transition, and the staff of all newspapers has found the new system both easy to use and responsive to their needs.”

SAXOTECH Editorial is a complete platform that empowers collaboration between all parties working on the news. Foster’s 70-seat implementation will help reporters, photographers and editors across all publications work together more effectively and collaborate on content. As a SAXOTECH Online customer, the new implementation will provide better integration and coordination between the print and online publications.

“SAXOTECH was selected by our editorial team. It is viewed as an effective set of system tools that will enable our staff to meet current and future news needs,” commented Patrice D. Foster, vice president of administration.

Foster noted that the news department’s vision statement called for development of “One News Organization” where sharing and collaboration between newspapers are fundamental.

“Some might call this efficiency. We consider it good journalism,” she said.

In order to extend the functionality of their updated editorial platform, Foster’s has also implemented a set of core add-on modules including:

• SAXOTECH Archive
• PDF Maker
• XML Exporter
• Image Processing
• Tansa Text Proofing

A key element of the system is a commitment to regular upgrades and close collaboration between the software company and the news company.

“We selected SAXOTECH in part because of our sense that we are forging a working relationship with our vendor,” said Mr. Foster. “We feel this will help to keep us current with technological developments, and help us maintain our relevance in the local market.”

“Fosters is a committed customer and we are excited to see SAXOTECH Editorial installed to help them deliver the news in the most efficient manner possible,” said Anders Christiansen, CEO and president of SAXOTECH. “The combination of our online and print publishing solutions will help Foster’s quickly enhance collaboration between employees and publications. By helping them streamline operations we enable Fosters to focus on what they do best – report and deliver the news.”
