Danish subsidiary expands US workforce in high tech publishing industry
Founded in Denmark in 1992, SAXOTECH rapidly became international and opened its North American subsidiary, SAXOTECH, Inc., in Rockville in 1999. The subsidiary’s steady, continuous growth led to the eventual expansion and relocation of its headquarters to Tampa.

Company President Mark Prokosch credits the area’s business climate and workforce as deciding factors favoring Tampa. “Enterprise Florida, the City of Tampa and Hillsborough County collaborated on making it cost effective for us to make the move,” said Prokosch. “The information given to us by the Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce Committee of One Hundred regarding the availability and quality of software professionals in the greater Tampa area was right on target. The response to our hiring efforts has exceeded our expectations.”

Newspaper, magazine and media companies are among SAXOTECH’s clientele and include THE WASHINGTON TIMES, NEW YORK TIMES Regional Newspaper Group, Dow Jones’ – Ottaway Newspaper, Inc. and THE CHRONICLE OF HIGHER EDUCATION. Last month SAXOTECH, Inc. announced that the CHICAGO SUN-TIMES had launched its new RogerEbert.com website running on the SAXOTECH Online publishing system.

“We are delighted that SAXOTECH has chosen to locate its continental corporate headquarters in Tampa, as its presence here underpins the growing reputation of Florida as a leading technology-hub,” said Governor Jeb Bush. “The success of SAXOTECH is based on its quality product and industry leadership, and I am proud they have chosen to invest long-term in the Sunshine State. Congratulations to the Tampa Bay area on attracting this exciting project, and a warm Florida welcome to the team of SAXOTECH."

City of Tampa Mayor Iorio and Hillsborough County Commission Board Chairman Jim Norman issued a joint statement welcoming SAXOTECH to Tampa. “This is a doubly significant win for our community – having an internationally respected leader of media content and online production systems locate its North American headquarters in Tampa. SAXOTECH is providing excellent career opportunities for graduates of our two major universities, the University of South Florida and University of Tampa, in a field that pays above-average salaries and is projected to continue growing. We look forward to having the company become an integral part of our community.”

Mike Fisher of CB Richard Ellis in Tampa represented the company in its site search.
