Kristianstadsbladet enters the new Millennium with the SAXoPRESS Publishing System.
Aalborg, 5 January 1999 - Today SAXoTECH announced the sale of its SAXoPRESS Publishing System to Kristianstadsbladet, SAXoTECH's first SAXoPRESS installation in Sweden.
Kristianstadsbladet, established in 1856, is a daily newspaper with a circulation of approximately 30,500 copies.Besides being the first sale in Sweden, the Kristianstadsbladet installation marks the introduction of a layout driven production system from SAXoTECH. Until now SAXoPRESS has been a content driven production system. SAXoPRESS now supports both working processes - much in the spirit of SAXoTECH, offering its customers as much freedom of choice as possible.
"About a year ago we began studying different editorial systems," stated Jörgen Svensson, Managing Editor at Kristianstadsbladet. "Our old system was played out long ago. It did still work, but it was old fashioned and it simply could not live up to the high demands of modern newspaper production. We were well aware of the way we wanted to work; the new system was to be a very handy planning system as well as it was to be able to produce the newspaper easily and rationally, and at a high quality." Svensson continued "SAXoTECH's system was the one that best met our high demands. That is the reason for our choosing SAXoTECH."
The contract includes a complete 54 seat editorial system. SAXoPRESS enables Kristianstadsbladet to produce its news on a state-of-the-art publishing system which meets all the newspaper's needs. The new system at Kristianstadsbladet will run on MacOS workstations with an Oracle® database. In addition to SAXoPRESS modules for the production of editorial copy, Kristianstadsbladet also purchased SAXoPRESS ImageProcessorPro - a highly automated picture processor. Kristianstadsbladet added NetNEWS for internet publishing and the SAXoBRS system for archiving text, images, and pages. Finally Kristianstadsbladet purchased SAXoPlan - an editor's planning tool containing a diary and an overview of stories of the next day's newspaper.
"We are very excited about this contract with Kristianstadsbladet, which is the first step in our breakthrough in Sweden," notes Jesper Frank, Sales Representative, Scandinavian Sales. "The Swedish newspaper business is highly advanced within layout driven production and we are very enthusiastic about SAXoTECH being part of this progress."
