Community Publishing Module will give Times News the ability to host the Web content of community groups and associations without forcing those groups to learn any HTML

Multi-Media Module will allow Times News to publish video and audio content created by the local television station owned by its parent company

The print and online employees of the daily Times News (Lehighton, Pa.), the weekly Parkland Press (Allentown, Pa.), the weekly East Penn Press (Allentown, Pa.), the weekly Northwestern Press (Allentown, Pa.), the weekly Northampton Press (Allentown, Pa.), the weekly Pocono Post (Gilbert, Pa.), the weekly Whitehall-Coplay Press (Allentown, Pa.), and the weekly Postscript (Lehighton, Pa.) will use one SAXoPRESS system to write, edit and produce their publications.

Times News, Inc., a Pencor Company, publishes the daily Times News, which was established in 1883. It is an afternoon paper, published Monday through Saturday with a circulation of 16,000. Additionally, Times News publishes 7 weekly newspapers and a 20,000-circulation shopper. The weeklies have a combined circulation of 22,500. Pencor, the parent company, is based in Palmerton, Pa., and owns a variety of communications operations including cable TV, telephone, wireless, Internet and commercial printing companies.

SAXoPRESS will be integrated with the Ad Layout System(tm) (ALS) from Managing Editor, Inc. The new SAXoPRESS system will replace an aging Baseview NewsEditPro(tm) editorial solution.

"Before we found SAXoTECH, I had come to the conclusion that all editorial packages were created equal," said Will Schwab, Network Manager, Times News, Inc. "After seeing SAXoPRESS, I felt that SAXoTECH was in a league of its own. It is unparalleled in its ease of use, the flexibility of workflow, platform, pagination tools, and integration with the Web and upcoming wireless technologies."

"Before our search started we had a requirements list and a wish list," said Scott Masenheimer, General Manager, Times News, Inc. "The SAXoTECH system was the only one we looked at that had everything on the requirements list and more than everything on our wish list."

All of the editorial departments in the Times News' Lehighton and Allentown, Pa., office will be converted to SAXoPRESS before the end of the year. The installation project will begin in August. The Times News SAXoPRESS system will be a cross-platform solution. It will be staged on Windows 2000(tm) servers running an Oracle8(tm) database, with Apple MacOS(tm) pagination workstations, and both MacOS and Windows NT(tm) reporting and editing workstations.
